History
Spa, a story of water…
and of generations
-
1922
The Piscine Fleurie
In 1922, the Piscine Fleurie was born in Spa: an open-air pool surrounded by trees, a few wooden cabins, a diving board. People already came for the essentials — to swim, and above all to be together.
-
The 1960s
A municipal facility
The pool grew along with the town and became a true municipal facility. The pool was enlarged, lawns appeared, a slide and a paddling pool completed the ensemble. In summer, Spa lived to the rhythm of its pool.
-
The indoor pool
Swimming all year round
Then came the indoor pool. People learned to swim there, trained there, season after season. The pool was no longer just a summer place: it became part of the daily life of the people of Spa.

2021
The floods
In 2021, everything came to a brutal halt with the floods. But very quickly, one thing became clear: it was not just about rebuilding, but about reinventing.

Today
A reinvented pool
The Pool of Spa has taken on a new face: modern, bright and accessible facilities, pools suited to everyone and, from now on, an Olympic outdoor pool integrated into its surroundings. Deep down, nothing has changed: since 1922, people have come here to swim, to relax… and to share a moment together.
The Piscine Fleurie in pictures
You only have to look at these images to understand: in Spa, the relationship with water is nothing new. Long before today's facilities, long before the modern pools, there was already, in the heart of the town, a place where people came to swim, to meet and to enjoy the summer.
From the Piscine Fleurie to today's facilities, the Pool of Spa tells a simple and powerful story: that of a place which, generation after generation, accompanies the lives of its residents. A place where water is not just an element… but a common thread.
