Practical info

Are smartphones and mobile phones allowed around the pools?

Yes, but in compliance with strict rules designed to protect everyone’s privacy.

You are allowed to use your smartphone or mobile phone to take a few photos or videos of your loved ones, your children or your family in order to keep a memory of your visit.

However, it is strictly forbidden to photograph or film other people without their consent, or to publish images on social media that allow visitors who have not given their permission to be identified.

The use of devices must remain reasonable and must not disturb other swimmers.

Our team reserves the right to intervene in the event of excessive use or use that does not respect privacy.

The Piscine de Spa wants everyone to be able to fully enjoy their day in an atmosphere of trust, respect and friendliness.

What happens in bad weather?

During the summer season, the outdoor swimming pool remains open as long as weather conditions allow.

In the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms, temperatures that are too low or any other situation that could compromise swimmers’ comfort or safety, the lifeguards may decide to close the outdoor pools temporarily or for the rest of the day.

When operating conditions allow and attendance remains compatible with reception capacity, the public may be welcomed in the indoor swimming pool during the afternoon.

During July and August, however, the indoor swimming pool is used every morning for sports camps organised by ADEPS and therefore cannot welcome the public before these activities have finished.

Opening or closing decisions are made in real time by management and the lifeguards, with user safety as the priority.

We advise you to check our website or social media before travelling when the weather is uncertain.

Are swim shorts allowed?

For hygiene reasons, swim shorts, Bermuda shorts, underwear and clothing not specifically designed for swimming are not allowed in the pools of the Piscine de Spa.

Only swimwear suitable for swimming is permitted (swimming briefs, swim boxers, one-piece or two-piece swimsuits, depending on the models designed for swimming).

This rule helps ensure better water quality and optimal comfort for all swimmers.

If you are unsure about your swimwear, please speak to our reception team before entering the pools.

Do you sell swimwear at the Piscine de Spa?

Not yet… but it is coming soon!

We are currently setting up a sales area offering various swimming items (swimsuits, caps, goggles and small accessories).

In the meantime, we invite you to bring your equipment with you so that you can fully enjoy your swim.

Is a swimming cap compulsory?

Wearing a swimming cap is compulsory in the indoor swimming pool.

However, it is not compulsory in the outdoor swimming pool.

For reasons of hygiene and comfort for all swimmers, we nevertheless ask people with long hair to tie it up, even when using the outdoor pools.

Please also note that only swimwear suitable for swimming is allowed. Shorts, Bermuda shorts or clothing not intended for swimming are not permitted.

Can I come by bike?

Yes, and we encourage you to do so!

The Piscine de Spa is easy to reach by bike thanks to the soft mobility network developed by the City of Spa. A secure shared cycling and pedestrian path makes it easy to reach the swimming pool from the town centre, Spa-Géronstère station and the surrounding neighbourhoods. (Infrastructures Wallonie)

Cycling enthusiasts will also appreciate the immediate proximity of the RAVeL line 44A, one of the most beautiful routes in Wallonia.

On arrival, you will find bicycle racks installed right in front of the main entrance. They allow you to easily lock your bike with a padlock for the duration of your visit.

We recommend bringing a good-quality lock so that you can leave your bike safely.

Is the swimming pool accessible by public transport?

Yes. The Piscine de Spa is easy to reach by public transport, whether by train or by bus.

The nearest SNCB/NMBS station is Spa-Géronstère, located about a fifteen-minute walk from the swimming pool. It is served by the railway line connecting Spa to Verviers, with connections to Belgium’s main cities.

By bus, the swimming pool has its own stop: “Spa – Bassin de Natation”, located right in front of the entrance to the facility. This stop is served by TEC line 295 (Verviers – Tiège – Spa), allowing direct access to the swimming pool without any additional walking.

Depending on where you are coming from, other TEC lines, including line 388 (Verviers – Theux – Spa), also provide easy access to the centre of Spa, from where the swimming pool is only a few minutes away.

We do, however, recommend checking the latest SNCB/NMBS and TEC timetables before travelling, as service frequencies may vary depending on the day of the week, school holidays, public holidays or possible network disruptions.

Whether you come by train, by bus or by combining both, getting to the Piscine de Spa is simple and convenient.

Outside peak times, walking from the centre of Spa is often still the fastest option.

Is the Piscine de Spa accessible to people with reduced mobility?

Yes. The Piscine de Spa has been awarded the Access-i label, a recognised certification in Wallonia and Brussels that assesses the accessibility of venues open to the public. This label guarantees that the information about the accessibility of our facility is reliable, objective and verified on site by independent experts.

Our facility makes every effort to welcome people with reduced mobility and visitors with specific needs in the best possible conditions.

In particular, you can benefit from:

  • adapted access to the building;
  • accessible changing rooms, sanitary facilities and showers;
  • an adapted route to the pools;
  • attentive assistance from our team.

To ensure your visit takes place in the best possible conditions, we recommend contacting us before you come. We will be able to inform you about the available equipment (pool access chair, hoist or other technical aids), answer your questions and prepare your welcome as effectively as possible.

You can also consult our detailed Access-i profile, which presents, for each type of disability, the strengths of our infrastructure as well as any points to bear in mind so that you can prepare your visit with peace of mind.

Our aim is for everyone to enjoy the Piscine de Spa in the best possible conditions of comfort, safety and independence.

No. BigCaptain only lets you buy a ticket, not reserve a spot.

Brasserie

Can I access the cafeteria without being a swimming pool customer?

Yes, with pleasure!

The brasserie at the Piscine de Spa is open to everyone, even if you are not coming to swim.

You can enjoy a pleasant terrace offering one of the most beautiful views of Spa, have a cold drink, a cocktail, a mocktail, an ice cream or a light meal in a friendly atmosphere.

Whether it is for a meal with friends, a drink with family or simply a break on the terrace, you are welcome, even without an entrance ticket to the swimming pool.

Outdoor pool

Is the outdoor swimming pool open on Monday mornings?

No. During the summer period, the outdoor swimming pool opens every Monday at 12:00 noon.

The morning is entirely dedicated to the maintenance of our facilities: cleaning the pools, checking the water quality, maintaining the filtration systems, cleaning the filters and carrying out thorough maintenance of the entire site.

This organisation allows our teams to welcome you throughout the week in the best possible conditions of cleanliness, safety and comfort.

Thank you in advance!

Can I picnic on site?

From 10 am, they must either leave the site or buy a day ticket.

During busier periods, a swimming lane is usually set up from 5 pm, when safety conditions permit.
